We hope you make lots of Ruby friends at Kiwi Ruby. We're throwing some social events around the conference to facilitate this.
The Ruby NZ code of conduct applies to all of these events. We'll do our best to provide a safe and fun environment and you do your best to be friendly β¨
Meet your fellow Kiwi Ruby attendees with a casual mingle in the cosy lounge of Wellingtonβs award-winning Southern Cross Garden Bar. Grab a drink and a snack, chat about the dayβs workshops, and get to know other Rubyists with some low-impact icebreaker activities.
Proudly sponsored by Flux Federation (powering Powershop).
Come to the after party and talk about the exciting things you learned and thought about at Kiwi Ruby. It's just across the wharf from Te Papa.
We'll provide a whole lot of snacks and a tab for non-alcoholic drinks.
Karaoke may ensue.
New Zealand is home to a wonderful array of native birds, from the iconic flightless Kiwi that adorns much of our national imagery, to the cheeky kΔkΔpΕ Sirocco, which you may know in your Slack channels as :partyparrot:.
If youβre a nature loving Rubyist, you may like to come on a trip to Zealandia, the worldβs first fully-fenced urban ecosanctuary.
Bring warm clothes, walking shoes, money for admission, and bus fare ($7 return or less with Snapper). Zealandia is suitable for the whole family, and has a number of stroller and wheelchair accessible trails.
Do you want to hang out with your Ruby friends, play board games, drink craft beer, and eat tasty snacks?
If so: great news! You can do that. We'll be meeting up on the Saturday afternoon after the conference at Counter Culture, a newish Wellington institution with delicious local craft beer, great curly fries, and an extensive collection of board games.
Community tradition dictates that Werewolf is likely.
